Welcome to the June 2023 edition of Myoju magazine, which explores the theme of Contribution, with a specific sub-theme of ‘Material and Non-material’.

In this issue, we emphasise the importance of community practice, given our return to a residential retreat (R72) in March/April. Dharma talks on Bendoho and Foundation Day, one of Jikishoan’s annual commemoration events, are reflected in the cover page photo and given a centre page highlight.

The Dharma talks by Ekai Osho bring us back to the fundamentals of community practice and contribution through membership. The Gathas collected during the residential retreat are included.

Our Sangha News section highlights the ongoing involvement of Jikishoan’s members, who are actively engaged in both material and non-material forms of contribution.

As I continue to serve as the Myoju Coordinator, I acknowledge the efforts and involvement of the contributors and the production team for this issue.

Welcome to the March 2023 edition of Myoju magazine, which explores the main 2023 theme of Contribution, with a specific sub-theme of ‘Giving and Receiving’.

In this issue, we continue to explore the topic of the Three Treasures: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, with Part Two of the Dharma talk by Ekai Osho, delivered at the 10th anniversary of the Canberra Soto Zen Group.

Our feature article is focused on Contribution in Buddhism and, we are pleased to present the Gathas that were collected during Retreat 71, along with artwork by Ethan Pollard-Di Marco.

Our Sangha News section highlights the ongoing contributions of Jikishoan’s members, who are actively engaged in giving and receiving to support the Sangha and the wider community.

I am privileged to serve as the Myoju Coordinator, and the Myoju team worked together diligently on this issue. I am further committed to work on the upcoming issues.

I acknowledge all our contributors for their valuable contributions, which make it possible to sustain Myoju publication.

Welcome to the December 2022 issue of Myoju magazine, the final in our series on the theme of Harmony, with subtheme of ‘Reflection and Action’.

The Dharma talk given by Ekai Osho at the 10th Anniversary of the Canberra Soto Zen Group discusses the topic of the Three Treasures: Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. Part two of this talk will be published in the March 2023 issue. The feature article is a student talk given by Naomi Richards on her training as A2 class coordinator. In this issue we have five reflective poems from Helena Demovsek-Zorko prior to her going to Japan for her training at Toshoji.

Katherine Yeo contributed an article and photos from her last visit to Bodhgaya, India in October 2022 from her IBS overseas study.

This Sangha News reflects that life and death is a matter of Life: there are news about birth and death in our community. In fact, Ekai Osho’s teaching on Life and Death

(Shoji) is a topic in Retreat 71.

From this issue, I was appointed as Myoju Coordinator by Ekai Osho- Editor, replacing Margaret Kokyo Lynch. Due to changes in her personal circumstances, Margaret is no longer able to perform her role of Coordinator. We thank her for her exceptional dedication to the production of Myoju over the years. I acknowledge the contribution of the members of the production team for this issue. I would like to thank all the contributors to this, my very first issue. It is only with your support that Myoju and my work can continue.

Gassho
