Orientation and Deepening Classes and Workshops

Jikishoan offers a range of courses for people who would like to find out more about Zen, or who wish to deepen their practice. Teachings are normally given personally by Ekai Korematsu-osho. The program ranges from one-day workshops to more extensive courses held over a number of weeks.

The objective of the Orientation Courses is to learn to harmonise and balance one's body and mind throughout our ordinary, everyday activities. To this end the courses focus on studying the nature of body/mind, and the three forms of Zen practice.

The Deepening Practice course is an extension of the Orientation course. The aim is to assist and deepen one's practice, enabling us to incorporate it into daily activities. Topics introduced in this course give simple structure and understanding of the forms unique to the Soto Zen tradition. These courses both consist of five 2-hour sessions.

One-Day Workshops generally consist of a general introduction to Buddhist meditation, and instruction in zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and bowing practice. The workshops will interest people who are looking for a sound introductory experience in Zen Buddhism and also experienced people wanting to consolidate their practice.

Please check the Calendar and the Courses information for details of Jikishoan's current teaching schedule.
