Zen Education

Apart from regular Sanzenkai (meditation) and retreats, Jikishoan offers a range of courses for people who would like to learn more about Zen, or who wish to deepen their practice.

The Zen education program ranges from one day workshops, to more extensive courses held over a number of weeks.

Ekai Korematsu Osho is the main teacher and director of all courses.

One Day Workshops - A Day of Practice

These workshops consist of a general introduction to Buddhist meditation and instruction in zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and bowing practice.

The workshops will interest people who are looking for a sound introductory experience to Zen Buddhism and also experienced people, wanting to consolidate their practice.  Workshops are held approximately seven times per year.

Main Course B

The course is designed to introduce the student to the simplicity and richness of practice with others. The curriculum is centred in a core practice of sitting meditation, walking meditation, bowing and tea service.

Additionally, the student is lead through a structured engagement with ryo practice (small working groups) in the kitchen, meditation hall, reception desk and study hall.

This course is open to all people, including Jikishoan members and previous students of the IBS. Prospective students, who have not studied with Jikishoan previously, may need to fulfill pre-requisite criteria.
